I shipped off to Iraq as a Network Administrator contractor to the Army, working for ITT. As permitted by the Army, I chronicled whatever happened, from the time I accepted the assignment. I was in for 14 months (Apr 05 / May 06)

That is unbelievable!
Well, you've got a pair of ARMY boots on the way. I'll be following those up with a pair of MARINE boots so we'll see if any branch of our military services can make a pair of boots that will last you longer than a month.
If not, I'll bring some hiking boots when we see you in October.

My Brahma boots from Walmart have held up quite well and I have pretty much just used them since arriving at Ft Bliss. They were pretty cheap, too.
You might need to do a commercial for Walmart when you get back if their Brahma boots held up better than the armed services issued boots. I guess the little pebbles are hard on all shoes. I would think tennis shoes would blow a hole pretty quickly. I might send you a good pair of tennis shoes before your year is out.
Little pebbles, huh? I'll post some pictures of our "pebbles" shortly.
