I shipped off to Iraq as a Network Administrator contractor to the Army, working for ITT. As permitted by the Army, I chronicled whatever happened, from the time I accepted the assignment. I was in for 14 months (Apr 05 / May 06)

It is important that you have a comfortable bed while you are there, but don't get too comfy...you have your side waiting for you at home. :-)

Its all about adjusting expectations. Compared to the bunk at Fort Bliss this isn't too bad. Once I can get my chair situation worked out, I'll be set. And then I'll probably find out they're shipping me to Al Anbar. ;-)
Andy,
Hey how it going! cool blogger site! Are you doing network support and implemenentation on base or off site in office buildings?

I am doing about 60% systems (windows) admin and about 40% network (cisco) admin. We aren't big enough for the net admins to focus solely on net stuff. My camp is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so we don't go off-base unless we are headed on R&R or need to go to another site for some specific reason. I do go to various places on post to assist with network and windows issues. We also have a main trailer/office area.
