The Weather

August saw highs around 112-118. Nights were running 78-85.
Through September 22nd, this month's highs have been in the 103-110 range.
This month's lows have been around 72-76.

My heat observations for Scania are:

Less than 80 = Cool
80-90 = Pleasant
90-100 = Warm
100-110 = Hot
110-120 = Uncomfortable
More than 120 = Stifling.

I'm Baaaaack -2

Ok, ok, so it's been awhile. For the most part, there's been nothing going here that you couldn't already read about in some earlier post.

However, that's starting to change, now.

I leave Scania in 15 days to go on a cruise with my wife and daughter. On the other hand we're taking a eastern Carribean tour, so hopefully all of the storms will have died down by then. We leave Miami on the 15th or 16th of October.

We're getting close to the time when we'll have the big turnover in troops here. Currently Texas is in charge of the camp. Come sometime in November, that will be handed over to Georgia. I have heard that November and December will be very busy months at work.

And to add to all of this, due to some interesting planning (or lack of) back in June, we're going to have to get rid of all of our rented tan tents (about 80-90% of all the living tents) and replace them with "C-Huts". This means about 110 tents will be replaced by about 55 C-Huts. And this needs to be done by the end of November or they'll start having problems with rain. They intend to begin work around the 23rd or so.

The C-Huts have the same footprint as two tents and are basically plywood buildings. I have included a couple of pics. The big question is whether they'll get to my row before, during or after my vacation. They have 25 C-Huts to build before they get to me. We'll see how long it takes. I'll post pictures of the progress.
